Big Cat Challenge Kick-Off: Day 1 Wrap Up

Yesterday marked not only the first day of spring practice for the Tigers, but also the beginning of the 4th Annual Big Cat Challenge. The Big Cat Challenge is a competition that entails both team and individual events that allow the players to compete in different physical capacities. The events range anywhere from a swim relay to a strongman contest and everything in between.

The Big Cat is typically held in the Fall, but this season the decision was made to move it to the Spring so that players could show off all the hard work they put in throughout the offseason and winter holidays. This year's competition involves 6 individual events and 6 team events. Players will first complete the individual portion of the contest and will continue next week with the team events.

Today's event, the Agility Course, kicked off the Big Cat Challenge with lots of excitement and a few surprises. The course proved to be much tougher than it appeared as several players struggled with the final set of agility cones and hurdles. Past individual champions Will Kaiser (8th Place) and Mike Hunter (11th Place) each fared well and put themselves in the hunt for a chance to hold the crown once again. However, at the end of the day, the dynamic duo of Ben Klimesh and Eric Binder sit atop the leaderboard, but tomorrow things could change with an event that provides both a strength and agility challenge. Those sitting at the bottom of the rankings have a chance to pick up some serious ground if they are able to perform well in tomorrow's event, at this point, it's still anyone's title...
